When you step into a photo session, you’re allowing someone else to SHOW you how THE WORLD sees you.

Stepping into the frame isn’t something I’m new to, but when I told a close friend of my session today, I expressed how much I wasn’t looking forward to having my photos taken. Even from someone who has had a camera in her hand for the last 12 years, I was dreading being on the other side of it today.

If I’ve learned anything in twelve years, it’s how easy it is for women to re-play the tapes we’ve listened to before. From social media, about how we’re supposed to look. From our adolescence, when someone pointed out something about us, and we were self conscious from that moment on. From the toxic relationship, where we were never thin enough.

Sister, there will always be something you second guess about your appearance, but those curves – that’s what makes you a woman. Those lines on your forehead, or the way you crinkle your nose, that’s what makes you…. YOU.

You are beautiful, confident, resilient, joyful, successful, thriving, healing, learning, growing, excelling, resting, exploring… If you could only see yourself through the lens of those around you.

You may laugh, but owning a Ford Bronco – my dream car – makes me feel like I’m doing something right as a business owner. She’s photogenic and has zero tapes she plays in her head, so she was fully up for the occasion.
